Travel Information

The 22nd International Workshop on Water Waves and Floating Bodies will take place in Hotel Jezero at Plitvice Lakes, CROATIA. (www.np-plitvicka-jezera.hr) .

Travelling to CROATIA

Croatia is located in the middle of Europe. The capital is Zagreb and other major cities are: Split, Rijeka, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Karlovac, Osijek, Vukovar ...

The local currency is KUNA (1 EURO = 7.35 KUNA).

There are daily flights from all major European cities to Zagreb. There are also several flights to other Croatian cities (Split, Rijeka, Dubrovnik, Zadar, ...). We recommend flying to Zagreb or Split. Flight information can be found on web sites of the corresponding airports: www.zagreb-airport.hr ,  www.split-airport.hr.

Croatia can also be reached by rail (www.hznet.hr), bus (www.akz.hr) or ship (www.jadrolinija.hr).

From Zagreb to Plitvice

Plitvice Lakes can only be reached by bus, car or taxi.

Bus

  1. At Zagreb airport take the airport bus to the Central bus station (www.akz.hr). The cost is about 4 Euros and the travelling time is about half an hour.
  2. At Central bus station take the bus for Plitvice Lakes. There are several buses during the day :
  7.30 am
  8.40 am
10.00 am
11.00 am
11.30 am
  0.30 pm
  1.30 pm
  2.30 pm
  3.00 pm
10.00 pm

The buses travell from Zagreb to Split or Zadar and you should ask the driver to indicate the stop at Plitvice Lakes. Plitvice are located about 180 km from Zagreb and travelling time is approximately 2h15. Ticket price is about 10 Euros. Bus stops just in front of the Hotel Jezero.

Taxi

At Zagreb airport you can also take the taxi. It is wise to ask the price before hiring it. The normal price should be around 170 Euros.

Car rental

Renting a car at Zagreb airport might be a good option. All major , and some local ones, have representatives at Zagreb airport. Corresponding web page can be found here. For driving instructions see below.

 

From Split to Plitvice

Bus

  1. At Split airport take the airport bus to the Central bus station (www.ak-split.hr). The cost is about 4 Euros and travelling time about 45 minutes.
  2. At the Central bus station take the bus for Plitvice Lakes. There are several buses during the day :

  9.00 am
  0.00 pm
  1.30 pm
  2.00 pm
  3.00 pm
10.30 pm
10.45 pm

The buses travell from Split to Zagreb and you should ask the driver to indicate the stop at Plitvice Lakes. Plitvice is located about 300 km from Split and travelling time is approximately 4h. The ticket price is about 17 Euros. The bus stops just in front of the Hotel Jezero.

Taxi

Taxi from Split to Plitvice is not recommended.

Car rental

Renting a car at Split airport might be a good option. All major , and some local ones, have representatives at Split airport. Corresponding web page can be found here. For driving indications see below.

 

Travelling by car

In the case you are coming to Croatia by car or you are renting a car at one of the Croatian airports, a useful map can be found here. If you are coming from Zagreb, the best option is to take the highway A1 till Karlovac and then take the national road to Plitvice. The estimated time is 2 hours. From Split you should take A1 highway in opposite way and then exit at Gornja Ploca and take the national road to Plitvice. The estimated time is 4 hours.
