- Give an overview of processes used in welding and allied techniques: brazing, metal spraying and thermal cutting. Familiarization with basic concepts of assembling technology. Training for selecting the method for product assembling (manual or automatic) and knowing the basics of designing assembly processes.
- Student responsibilities:
- Grading and evaluation of student work over the course of instruction and at a final exam:
- Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to (learning outcomes):
- 1 . Recommend a structure (hierarchy) of a product for assembly.
- 2 . Choose the most convenient concept of assembly system.
- 3 . Create a plan of manual assembly.
- 4 . Analyse and identify the welding procedures.
- 5 . Comment and distinguish the metal transfer during MIG/MAG welding.
- 6 . Evaluate the fitness of the product for laser beam welding.
- 7 . Categorize the shielded gases during MIG/MAG and TIG welding.
- 8 . Distinguish the manual, mechanized and automatized welding processes.
- Lectures
- 1. In the field of welding, all relevant and technically applicable welding procedures will be addressed, with emphasis on mechanized and robotic welding. These include arc and electro-resistance procedures and a laser. The process physics and aspects of the application constraints will be analyzed with respect to productivity, material weldability and product exploitation properties.
