- Introduce students to fundamental terms and methods in metrology. Introduce students to modern measurement equipment in length, angle and surface roughness metrology, as well as the basic principles of the geometric tolerances system. Develop measurement skills. Develop a critical approach based on scientific facts.
- Student responsibilities:
- Attending the lectures (three abstentions are permitted). Attending the exercises (three abstentions are permitted) Passing the examination by way of passing two preliminary exams (or a final written examination).
- Grading and evaluation of student work over the course of instruction and at a final exam:
- 100 % - written exam / colloquium
- Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to (learning outcomes):
- 1 . Apply fundamental principles of metrology in mechanical engineering.
- 2 . Identify the type and the influence of errors on measurement result.
- 3 . Use statistical tools and methods in analysis, comparison and validation of measurement results.
- 4 . Calculate measurement uncertainty of measurement result.
- 5 . Choose adequate measurement methods and devices.
