- The aim of the course is to train students for independent preparation and implementation of projects in the field of mechanical engineering, funded and co-financed by the European Union (Horizon, Interreg, LIFE, ESI funds) and increase their capacity to understand their preparation and implementation.
- Student responsibilities:
- Attending classes and preparing planned project tasks.
- Grading and evaluation of student work over the course of instruction and at a final exam:
- Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to (learning outcomes):
- 1 . Analyse the tender documentation, propose a consortium and check the eligibility of applicants, projects, activities and main costs.
- 2 . Identify the goals and results of the project, propose activities in accordance with the previously conducted analysis, make a list of activities, Gantt and Perth diagram
- 3 . Assess the impact and sustainability of the project, short-term, long-term
- 4 . Distinguish between dissemination and exploitation activities
- 5 . Identify project costs, understand, and divide the eligible from the ineligible costs, compile the project budget, determine the shares in financing and cash flow of the project, make a tabular presentation of the budget
- 6 . Discuss a simple project evaluation process

- 1. Introduction to tenders, projects, funding structure, introduction to terminology and methods for preparation and implementation of projects funded by EU funds. Practical examples from the fields of mechanical engineering, shipbuilding and aviation
- 2. Partnership, consortium formation, networking and case studies
- 3. Excellence, goals, SMART, SWOT, abstract, drafting of the project concept, eligibility with the tender, concept and methodology, ambition, innovation, TRL (Technology readiness level). Practical examples from the fields of mechanical engineering, shipbui lding and aviation
- 4. Impact, knowledge transfer, impact maximization measures, dissemination and exploitation of results
- 5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), KMP Key Performance Measures, Data Management Platforms (DMPs) and practical examples
- 6. Management and implementation of EU projects, compiling the structure of project work packages, disassembly into tasks, milestones, deliveries
- 7. GANTT diagram, budget and funding and practical examples
- 8. Project evaluation / assessment procedure. Practical examples, independent project evaluation exercise
- 9. Horizontal themes, social acceptability, standards, financial methods and market
- 10. Elaboration of the technical task selected from the field of mechanical engineering, shipbuilding and aviation and preparation for the tender
