- Presentation of concepts in automated storage and retrieval systems design, order picking system design and sortation system design. Providing guidelines for analysis and improvement of existing systems as well as design of new systems. Introducing students with computerized warehouse management systems (WMS) and application of modern identification and communication technologies in warehouses.
- Student responsibilities:
- Grading and evaluation of student work over the course of instruction and at a final exam:
- Created, presented and defended seminar 30%. Written exam 70%.
- Methods of monitoring quality that ensure acquisition of exit competences:
- Active participation in class. Control of understanding the subject matter through consultations when drafting the seminar.
- Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to (learning outcomes):
- Upon passing the course, student will be able to: Identify versions of systems and equipment of automated storage and retrieval systems. Identify versions of systems and equipment of order-picking systems. Identify versions of systems and equipment of automated sortation systems. Evaluate auto identification and communication technologies in order-picking systems. Apply acquired knowledge of AS/RS design models. Apply acquired knowledge of order-picking models and methods. Identify cons of existing systems and propose modifications for improvements.
