- Introduction to steam generators constructional and operational characteristics and calculation methods
- Student responsibilities:
- Grading and evaluation of student work over the course of instruction and at a final exam:
- yes
- Methods of monitoring quality that ensure acquisition of exit competences:
- Colloquy and exam
- Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to (learning outcomes):
- Compare the types of steam generator and the principles of their work. Calculate combustion in steam generator furnace; define the heat and mass balance of the steam generator; calculate the efficiency of the steam generator. Make a thermodynamic calculation of the steam generator using MS Visual Basic and MS Excel computer tools. Explore the principles of two-phase flow and make hydraulic calculation of forced and natural circulation of single-phase and two-phase flow. Assess the instability of two-phase flow in the evaporator. Evaluate primary and secondary measures to reduce SOx and NOx emissions. Critically evaluate regulations which establish limit values for emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere.
