BIOGRAPHY

Neven graduated in aerospace engineering (dipl.ing.) from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in 2004 with a thesis on dynamic modeling of a passenger aircraft shock absorber ("Dinamički model elastično-prigušnog elementa podvozja putničkog zrakoplova").

In 2008 he received a Ph.D. degree in Sound and Vibration from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) at the University of Southampton (UK). His PhD studies at the ISVR were sponsored by the EU-FP6 programme under the Research and Training Network "European Doctorate in Sound and Vibration Studies "(EDSVS). His doctoral work considers active control of sound transmission through an aircraft double panel.

From November 2008 to October 2010 he worked as a Research Associate- at Research group System Reliability, Adaptive Structures, and Machine Acoustics SAMTechnische Universität Darmstadt (TUD) – Germany sponsored by the EU-FP6 under the Smart Structures project. His project was concerned with the application of hybrid active/passive vibration control unit for attenuation of vibrations transmitted from rotating machinery to a supporting structure.

From November 2010 to August 2012 he worked as a Senior Assistant at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Naval Architecture – University of Split – Croatia. He was involved in teaching and research on active sound and vibration control. With the aid from Croatian Agency for SMEs, Innovations and Investments, (HAMAG-BICRO) he has built a prototype smart panel for the reduction of sound transmission through it.

From September 2012 to March 2016 he was an Associate Academic Staff - Experienced Researcher at Production Engineering, Machine Design and Automation (PMA) Section – Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) – Belgium sponsored first by the EU-FP7 under the TIRE-DYN project, and later on by a number of Flemish IWT Strategisch Basisonderzoek (SBO) and SOC Maakindustrie programmes. He was a member of the Noise and Vibration Research Group lead by Professor Wim Desmet. He worked on a number of topics including the dynamics of rotating tyres.

In April 2016, he joined the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture as a postdoctoral Researcher within the STARMAS project. STARMAS is an Intra European Fellowships (IEF) project funded under the H2020 Marie Skłodowska Curie programme of the European Commission.

Since May 2018, he works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Technical Mechanics a the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture.
