HACK THE FUTURE: Engineering a sustainable and flourishing society for Croatia! - 13.11. at 9AMThe world is changing! We live in the age of access. Access to transport, access to experiences, access to products. Companies, markets, production and logistics are more globalised than ever before. At the same time, the competition is also global, our environmental footprint is global, and social responsibility is global. It seems that with increasingly large opportunities, the corresponding threats and challenges are growing at increasingly accelerating rates, also. What is the role and impact of the engineer in all of this change? How can Design Science contribute to balancing the positive aspects of change – some even call it transformation – with the potentially challenging and threatening consequences? And how should engineers and engineering companies work to decouple value creation from resource and societal intensity? This half-day workshop, is the FSB 100 anniversary event enlighting some of the challenges and opportunities of the future, with the aim of defining and designing a role for engineering in tomorrow’s society, with engineering competencies at the very core.
